In late-1960s Valencia, Alberto Toldrá Monzonís became Spain’s first football agent — before the profession had a name. He founded Toldrá Consulting in 1970 and ran it on a simple rule: a handshake closed a contract. His first fee, legend says, was paid in melons — six of them, chosen off the cart himself. His first major transfer took Juan Cruz Sol from Valencia to Real Madrid, and the queue at his door never really shortened.
In 1995, fifteen agents met in Valencia to found Spain’s agents’ association; they elected him president, unanimously. He sent more players to the Spain national team than any agent of his era — Raúl, Casillas, Morientes, Cañizares, Míchel Salgado, Albelda — and negotiated Valencia CF’s record transfer of the time. Zamorano, Luis Enrique and Mendieta also carry his signature.
He gave the job a philosophy that still defines the alliance: accompany a player, don’t trade him. His sons, Alberto and Lorenzo, carry it today through Toldrá Football Consulting. Alberto Toldrá passed away in June 2012, aged seventy-one. The standard he set lived at Toldrá — today it lives at the heart of the All Iron Sports alliance.
